The US Potsal Service is a Burning Man art project. We set up and maintain a system for burners to write, and deliver postcards around the playa. We provide a central location stocked with postcards, pens, and playa-only stamps (the last of which isn't really necessary, but is fun to have.) Anyone can write and drop-off a postcard at one these mailboxes or boards. Everyone is encouraged to pick up and deliver the postcards that others have left.
Yep. See the Burning Man 2005 page for more info.
The easist thing to do is to come by the Potsal board and pick up a few letters to deliver on the playa. The board will be on the Esplanade around 9:30. There is no Potsal camp this year; most of the folks from last year will be at Camp La Mancha (in Snowflake Village) and are working on the Quixotic Windmills.
If you have time, you can also send designs for postal cards and stamps to be used on the playa this year. And if you're otherwise interested, email chassy@potsoffice.com.
Yep. And from the sound of it, you made it least as far as Oedipa Maas's first visit to The Scope, a hangout for Yoyodyne engineers.
The Potsal Service is an anarchist, self organizing delivery system. If you don't like that the cards weren't delivered, then print copies and deliver them yourself!
